St. John’s UCC has a tradition of excellent music programs. Choir Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings and the evening begins with a fellowship meal for all choir members and their families. The meal begins at 6:00 pm.
Our Chancel Choir is a group of wonderful people who love to praise Our Lord through music. The regular rehearsals are from September until May in the Sanctuary at 6:45 pm every Wednesday. The choir is important part of Sunday worship. Natalia Orlovskaia is the director.
Celebration Ringers is a group who play hand bells for church services September through May. They also participate in the Nittany Valley Hand bell Festival which is held in State College in the Spring. They practice Wednesday evenings from 8:00 to 9:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Sally Yocum is the director.
The Jesus Jammers are St. John’s Children’s Choir. These “joyful noise makers” meet Wednesdays from October through May in the Parish House. Children in pre-K through grade 6 are invited to join for singing rehearsals and musical “sharing” from 6:45 to 7:30 pm. Those in grades 3 through 6 are invited to join in learning to ring hand chimes from 7:30 to 8:00 pm. Jean Pierce and Renee Owens are the directors.
The Beginner Bells is a group of youth grade 6 through adult who would like to learn the techniques of ringing hand bells. They meet Wednesday evenings in Fellowship Hall from 6:45 to 7:45 pm. They will perform for a church service as skills are acquired. Sally Yocum is the director.
